History

Megaplex began in 1999, in Sandy, Utah. Its origin in Utah shouldn’t be a surprise, as Megaplex is owned and run by the owned and operated by the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies. These are the same people who own the Utah Jazz NBA team.

The first Megaplex theatre offered 17 screens. Since then, 3 more auditoriums have been added, along with more food selections. Today, the Megaplex chain has theatres in both Utah and Nevada.

Features

You’ll like what you find here, in terms of audiovisuals. The screens offer especially sharp images, while the sound is fantastic. That’s especially true with the Dolby Atmos technology, which makes you feel like you’re inside the audio. The sounds are all around you, making you really feel like part of the action.

The D-Box is even more intense. You get the sense of motion as what’s happening in the movie. You feel the wind and even the snow. In fact, it’s so immersive you may even smell the stuff that’s shown on screen.

Amenities

True, Megaplex offers the regular range of candy, popcorn, and drinks you’d find in other theatres. But here you’ll find a lot more, with an incredible range of hot and cold options. You’re able to dine in the restaurant, or bring the food with you in the theatre so you’re able to eat and watch. These meals come with special trays that are designed to fit into the cup holders of your seats. No more balancing the tray on your lap.

The food includes the usual fare, like burgers, hotdogs, chicken fingers, and corn dogs. Then you have various versions of grilled cheese sandwiches, including Chicken Cordon Bleu, Turkey Cheese Steak, and the Philly Cheese Steak. Side options include regular fries, sweet potato, and Buffalo’s JR Tots.

Many will enjoy the Mexican cuisine, with bean and meat burritos plus quesadillas and taco salads. With the Coke Free Style machine, you’re able to pick from up to 100 possible flavor combos. The dessert options include gelato, soft-serve ice cream (in a cone or cup), and donut holes.

In some locations (but not all, unfortunately), you’ll find a Pizza Hut nearby. That means you can always get any kind of Pizza Hut pizza you fancy, including various other sides and salads.
