The Regal history is a bit complicated. It started in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1989, and this is still where the Regal HQ is located. The first CEO Mike Campbell launched an expansion plan that concentrated on the suburbs, and their theatres features premium décor and cafes.
But the expansion plan didn’t quite pan out, and it resulted in bankruptcy in 2001. Regal eventually merged with the United Artists and Edwards Theaters, but the resulting company still retained the Regal name. Cineworld acquired Regal, which basically made Cineworld the 2nd-biggest cinema exhibitor in the entire world.

Features
Regal offers IMAX, but as a special treat it also offers RealD 3D. This is a unique 3D system that circularly polarized light to show films in stereoscopic 3D.
Then there’s RPX, which stands for the Regal Premium Experience. This is a special theatre that features a huge screen, premium-quality images, and immersive surround sound, along with super-comfortable seating.
The 4DX technology also redefines what immersive means these days. This technology offers motion-enabled seats, for you to feel motions and vibrations. In fact, this technology can even simulate weather conditions like rain, lightning, and fog. You’re even able to smell scents featured in the movie!
Amenities
You can buy your tickets online, though this service will require a small fee. Still, that lets you avoid the long lines, plus you get to pick your seats. You can go through the website or use the Regal app. Once you get to the Regal theatre, you can just show the ticket confirmation page, and then you’re escorted to your seats.
You can also buy your food and drinks online, and then you can just pick up your snacks on the way to your seats.
These days, they even offer the Regal Unlimited™ Movie Subscription Pass. This is an annual pass that lets you watch all the movies you want, as many times as you want, and whenever you want. This will even get you advance tickets as soon as they’re available. The pass gets you 10% off on all food and non-alcoholic drinks, and on your birthday, you get a free soft drink with a large popcorn.
