History

AMC stands for the American Multi-Cinema, though it all began with a lone cinema located in Kansas City, Missouri, way back in 1920. It was also known at one time as Durwood Theatres. The company was started by Maurice, Edward, and Barney Dubinsky. Over the years, there have been quite a few ownership changes.
AMC is now known as the largest movie theatre chain in the entire world. In the US alone, they have more than 660 theatres with a total of at least 8,200 screens. Then they also have 240 theatres in Europe with at least 2,200 screens.

Features

These include:

  • A combination of technologies like Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and HDR Laser projection to provide stunningly clearer images
  • Full Surround sound technology
  • Christie Brilliant 3-D flash projectors

Amenities

With their main AMC Theatres, the premium amenities include large format auditoriums (such as for IMAX), comfy recliner seats, and convenient reserved seating. The theatres also have MacGuffins Bars and concession stands with comparatively creative menus. Adults may even buy alcoholic beverages, which they can drink in the lounge area or even inside the theatre.

The regular AMC theatres are extraordinary, compared to actual regular theatres. You get stadium-style seating, so even tall patrons in front of you won’t block the screen. The armrests are adjustable, so if you’re on a date you can adjust the seats to a love-seat style.

In many places, you may also find the AMC Dine-in Theaters, though they may be called different names such as the Red Kitchen, Fork and Screen, and Cinema Suites. Each one is basically a restaurant, with a movie. You also have reserve seating, and when you get your seat, you just press a button on the seat to summon the waiter service. You’re able to order full meals with alcoholic beverages.

Several types of vouchers are also available, like coupons and gift cards. Snack coupons may be exchanged for popcorn or drinks.

It’s true that the prices here are somewhat on the high side, but you sure get your money’s worth. With the amenities and quality of features, movie night is an experience you can really get used to!
